skydiving practise

Hey friend,

My Education In The World alternative model for education has these 6 simple steps…

  1. pick an in demand & growth focused skill that you are naturally curious about

  2. master that skill by working on real projects and self studying online using YT, books, courses.

  3. find a (scalable) business that needs that skill and work for a % of what you can generate for them.

  4. redefine what you do, until you are the best (and only) person in the world who does it.

  5. travel the world and live in countries that are far from what you know. learn the languages, experience the people, fall in love with the world.

  6. use the space (time & wealth) to begin to ask the bigger questions and begin to explore the depths of what you are. Then express what you are authentically- which could be the base purpose of what consciousness is trying to fulfil.

The other day we spoke about #1, today we are gonna dive into #2.

Mastering your skill.

Despite how traditional education approaches learning- doing is far better than learning about doing. The best way to learn any skill is not in reading, or watching or philosophising over the concept - its by doing it. Over thinking will keep you running in circles.

When I learnt to skydive solo (jump out of a plane all by myself) - I had exactly 6 hours of theory on the ground, then 1 tandem jump.

After that, it was on me to close my eyes and jump out the plane, pull the shoot, square up correctly with the wind in order to land at the drop zone.

(I did about 30 solo jumps when I was 18, this is something i’m going to re-explore this year)

I say this to say- with your very life on the line in skydiving- you only need 6 hours of theory. Half a day. Then they throw you out of the plane.

It’s the same with mastering your skill. Don’t theorise, don’t practise- just do it. Get real projects and start working. It’s not as critical as jumping out of a plane at 15,000ft.

And in this way you will be getting paid to learn. Taking on small projects where you figure it out as you go. Leveraging resources like YouTube, courses, books, podcasts, twitter. Whatever it takes. Implementing each piece of new knowledge as you get it. Rather than storing it in your mind (taking up space).

It’s how I built 3 x 7 figure businesses by 23.

Getting paid to learn and developing a real skill and your greatest asset (you) along the way.

Instead of taking on hundreds of thousands of dollars, to learn outdated shit, from people who are out of practise (if they ever even practised), all the while delaying the one thing that actually matters- taking action.
