"self worth"
Hey friend,
From a young age we are told “believe in yourself” and to “be confident”
And we are ultimately judged if we don’t project self-worth
We are told these ideas that “everyone is equal” and “everyone has value”
But we are ultimately never given an understanding of how or why so…
And I’ve struggled with this… I never really believed that we were all amazing, & magnificent - and that it needed to be earned through achievement.
And so unconsciously for most of my life, i have gone about trying to do great things, to prove myself and my greatness and ultimately my worth
It’s been productive, but ultimately unfulfilling and futile
But in the process, here is what I have discovered.
(And it’s not an affirmation in the mirror of how great I think that I am…)
“Self worth is a self fulfilling prophecy”
See when you decide, consciously or unconsciously, that you are less in regards to others that seem to elevated or above you, or have something that you don’t
You deny the magnificence of what you truly are at the core of your being
And ultimately you decide to become less than what you are
When you deny you, you become smaller
When you begin to mimic, copy, model others in the hope of being like them or liked by them
You deny the very brilliance of what you are. Which is the source of your value.
In your hope of being accepted, you are ultimately rejected for your inauthenticity.
I have come to an understanding now, that we are all of incredible value and worth
But the difference is those who choose to embrace all of what they are, and those who choose to deny what they are.
To embrace not just the parts that are acceptable, recognised, applauded by the masses
But the complete whole.
And it's in this courageous embrace of yourself
And the choice to not shrink back to what you believe others want of you
That you get the opportunity to be great, valuable, of worth
You are valuable, because you are life itself.
And that without you, the very fabric of this world would be less
To deny that, would be death
And I'd suggest that's how most people choose to live.
The adventure always calls,
