re: self education

Hey friend,

I believe that self education, is the only real education.

That mentors are important, and its extremely helpful to have people ahead of you on the journey, but advice can only go so far.

Eventually, it all comes back to you.

Everything leads back to you.

In my experience, the best mentors, teachers or educators, don’t give answers, they ask questions

Strong questions, that maybe your avoiding, or distracting yourself from, or maybe haven’t thought of.

Direct advice is dangerous, because it creates a habit of denying your own inner wisdom, and creates a habit of looking outside of yourself for what can only be found within.

When you begin to create space to ask yourself these questions, you’ll be astounded by the answers that you find.

A practise that i’ve been working with is this…

For every area of my life I am looking to create change in - I carve out a piece of time each week to sit with a pen and paper and myself and ask myself questions on the subject.

Im not trying to even answer these questions, but just bring new awareness and attention to the particular area.

By giving your attention to this particular thing, pain, problem or curiosity (works best when its not from pain or need) - amazing things begin to happen.

Answers begin to appear.

And you begin to realise, that nothing is missing, its all right here, its always been right here, you just couldn’t see it.
