lies

Hey friend,

Perhaps one of the most intriguing things about humans, is our ability to lie to ourselves.

We have this incredible ability, which must have been passed down thousands of years ago as a survival bias

To be be able to hide uncomfortable or challenging truths from our very own awareness, at some point was beneficial for survival.

It isn’t anymore.

I’m not sure if any other creature in nature lies to itself, as humans do.

We hide our own shit from ourselves.

We hide the ugly from our own psyche.

Protect ourselves by lying

And tell ourselves the comfortable lie

Instead of confronting the uncomfortable reality.

And its one of the biggest challenges in growth.

Half of you is trying to move forward, and the other half is hiding from you all the uncomfortable truths you need to confront in order to move forward.

We lie to ourselves

by giving ourselves any reason or excuse

when it gets hard, uncomfortable, unfamiliar,

in order to soothe ourselves

& ultimately

to justify retreating

back into the comfortable

back into the familiar

back into the known

back into a place where we are not challenged to our core.

We justify playing small in area

To avoid having to let go of what we known

And embrace the uncomfortable unknown that is required

In order to go beyond, into a bigger experience of life.

And ultimately creation.

“Where am i lying to myself, in order to justify playing small, and staying where i am?“
