- An Education In The World

latin roots.
Hey friend,
When you think about the concept of education…
What do u think of ?
A school, a university? A top down hierarchy of teaching?
The passing on and regurgitation of information & knowledge that has already been created?
Perhaps the filling up of an empty cup?
The moulding of raw materials?
This is the common thought.
The student as a cup to filled. An empty canvas to be worked on.
I would say this is (very) incorrect.
Education comes the latin word: educere, which means to draw out
And that is to say, the process is more about bringing out of the individual what already exists at the core of them… rather than trying to put something in aka program.
But for government or institutions to admit that wisdom of the ages is already inside of you, would be dangerous for them. Would you still need them for protection & education? Would you become less susceptible to corporations who profit of your disempowerment?
Chances are, any education system or program or institution that you have been apart of previously has been about putting into you. Teaching you, filling you up with knowledge.
Teachers “pouring into“ students.
Indoctrination would be a much better fit as far as a definition.
Where the truth is, the roots of education created by philosophers & thinkers of time, knew much better.
They knew that inside of you was the source.
Inside of you, was everything that you needed.
Inside of you already, was the wisdom.
It just had to be brought out.
You just had to be shown how to access it. How to relate to it. How to understand your own genius.
Today’s education denies the innate genius & wisdom that lies in you.
It is suppressed, shun and at best tolerated if it fits the current mould to a close enough degree or if you can find a way to express it within the (very small) box.
A real education would be about drawing out the greatness & the brilliance that lies dormant & suppressed in you.
You’ve been lied to. Misled. Told it was missing. That you needed to try and attain it.
And that’s why you never received it, because the very attempt to receive it, was a constant denial of its existence already inside of you.
A lot can be learnt from the etymology of words.
It makes you wonder why these words have changed in meanings. Was it intentional?
