joy

Hey friend,

One of my favourite sayings a few years ago was…

“The more fun i have, the more money I make”

And it was true. Life was this great adventure, and I had this incredible openness to life that would lead me into places I couldn't have planned.

People, experiences, life.

I can see in myself over the last couple of years, as I have significantly increased my income, that I have lost a bit of this joy.

That in some parts, i have become serious.

Focused so intently on what i am creating, the spaces i am moving into… who i am becoming…

Its easy to get caught up in thinking it needs to be serious.

Seriousness is a rejection of life

Seriousness is the idea that life needs to be managed, controlled, manipulated

Seriousness closes us to joy, wonder, and bliss

The mind is serious

The mind wants clean cut answers, the “right” thing to do

The mind just wants the end, the result, the outcome

The mind is death

Joy is magic.

Joy makes life worthwhile.

To achieve everything that I thought I wanted from my life, but to do it in absence of real joy, would be a failure. It would be to miss the whole point.

I love Osho & he has great words on this...

“Seriousness is a dangerous disease, and we have been conditioned to be serious.

Seriousness has become the very way of people’s lives; they have lost all sense of humor.

And to lose the sense of humor is to lose something so essential that it cannot be replaced by anything else; it is irreplaceable.

To lose the sense of humor is to lose contact with God, because that is our only connection.

Seriousness is the greatest barrier between man and God, and it has to be dropped.”

The adventure always awaits,

-Jay
