‘An Education In The World’
Hey friend,
I’m quite interested in the ideas of decentralisation.
Decentralised finance & currency
Decentralised governments & countries
The shifting of power & authority from big institutions and giving it to the individual.
Now, I’m not expert on these ideas. I’ve been reading Eric Jorgensen’s book on Balaji Srinivasan and I listened to a bunch of thoughts of his a couple years ago when NFTs were popping.
The common case again decentralisation (in all areas) is that humans need protection from themselves. That everyday humans like you and me, aren’t empowered enough to take responsibility for our own lives.
But the truth, there is a huge system that profits off of you not being empowered. The government, corporations, medical system, education systems all survive off of your disempowerment. The disempowerment of the masses is the biggest industry in the world. That is to say, there is a lot of money being spent to keep you broke, sick, fat, anxious, depressed, average, dumb, outraged.
This all has had me thinking about “What would decentralised education look like?“
It would look like not needing to go to traditional institutions.
(Like in Australia where its required by law.)
Or it would look like a new way of verifying someones credibility other than a piece of paper from a legacy institution, university or college.
Decentralisation would look like a million little “schools“ VS 1 big government system and curriculum dictated to all.
It would look like finding a teacher or mentor who has validated success and results in the real world with that they have been able to create with their life (outside of their school), and joining their class room.
Imagine if your teacher was worth $100m, was jacked and had an amazing family. How much better would you do than if a 22 year old named stacey who vapes and went straight to uni from high school and never built a thing in her life was your teacher.
However, I think the decentralisation of education would go one level deeper.
Decentralised education should be about full sovereignty. Zero dependence of anything outside of you for wisdom. It would be process of coming to understand that you are the greatest source of wisdom in your life. That you are the greatest authority of your existence.
That you are your best teacher, your biggest challenge, your greatest supporter.
It would be a reclamation of your own genius and significance.
Because as we move into a world of decentralised education and millions of individual coaches replace the institutions - the biggest problem I see is people chasing knowledge & information & other peoples ideas, and denying themselves the opportunity to get present to their own genius.
The truth is… what is standing in your way between where you are and what you want to create … is not really information. Its an understanding of what it is that you are, and understanding of how to move forward. Usually the information is already there, the resources are already there- you just don’t understand. Because you’ve been looking outside of yourself. Because you’ve been avoiding yourself. Your own genius. Your own authority.
The information or the “how to“ is important but its the easy part.
I believe the decentralisation of education will be an awaking of your inner leader, your inner teacher- so you are not reliant on anything but you.
After that- there will be nothing that you cannot create.
